Xcode App Reviews

iTunesconnect

Clean should be clean. When you select clean, you shouldnt have to go find another selection to select clean to make it clean. If you think that sounds bad, try doing it. Overall Xcode is a decent tool. If you have been using it for some time you are sure to have come across a bug in Xcode itself. Im currently running into a problem with deleting apps on the iTunesconnect Xcode companion site. Disappointingly support has directed me to re-RTFWS for an issue that more than me are having. Ill wait a day and try it again.

New version to disappoint me

Everyday when I go to work I wonder if XCode will treat me gently or not. Sadly, it almost never does. Just today I tried to refactor a class and was met with disappointment. Refactoring still doesn’t show a preview after how many versions? No worries, I thought, surely other features would be fixed! I tried to install an app directly to a phone and use the XCode feature to automatically add a UUID to the profile. Surely this should work, right? Nope! It gives an error. It will register the UUID automatically but fail to pull down the latest provisioning profiles. Except the error it gives says that the app bundle identifier is invalid. Great error code XCode! Surely today can’t get worse right? I then got an error building with exit code 255 - “The tool may have crashed. Please file a bug report at …”. 200 billion in offshore banks and you can’t even give us a good IDE to develop apps in? Seriously? I never thought I would say that I miss Eclipse. Even more disappointing is this feedback form. I’m on a mac and I seriously can’t press the left/right arrow keys to move the position of my cursor. Bravo.

Install/Update Always Difficult

I’ve been using Xcode for almost 2 years now and can honestly say it has never installed or update correctly. I ALWAYS have to dump the application and install fresh. This has only ever happened to me with this application and I always get it direct from the App Store. Quite irritating and I am considering dropping the tool completely. That said, when it finally does install/update I am relatively happy with the tool and have little issues while using it, nothing that is a deal breaker but certainly frustraiting at times. Basically, I expect better from Apple… or at least I did once upon a time.

Wont Recognize My device no matter what i do

I have restarted my computer many many times and no matter what i do, it will not recognize my iphone as a device. it will show up in the device menu and shows it is set up and everything, but when i press the build button, it tells me there is no destination for the app and that no device is connected even though itunes and every other app recognizes it.

Word Completion is horrible

I relie on word completion heavily and in this version of XCode, it is more of a pain than helpful. It often gives me suggestions that does not make sense. Sometimes. I type almost the entire class name and it will not be in the suggestions. This bug was not in the previous version.

Good but slow

Miss the days when Xcode was never laggy. Experience a lot of spinner icon loading when messing with constraints and for general loading of things. It is a good program but laggy unlike what it used to be.

Clarification

It REALLY should be made clear that to download 7.3 the user MUST be upgraded to El Capitan. Other than looking for a solution to create the required image sizes, this is a GREAT IDE…though I DID spend a significant amount of money on my Macbook Pro system and am not too thrilled that Xcode can now be run on a windows machine- i LOVE my Macbook Pro and appreciate that I dont have to be a provissioned (paid) developer to push my projects to iOS devices for testing..and l LOVE the integration of my laptop with my iPhone

It shows 7.2.1

After updating the xcode to 7.3, it shows 7.2.1. I don’t know why. Its very funny to see.

Can’t download!

When I click update, the spinner shows in the top navbar but nothing ever happens. I watch the activity monitor network and I see a little activity for App Store - 2.5MB and it doesn’t increase. I have updated my OS with the latest updates as of today. Am I doing something wrong? I have 10GB of disk space….

May need to upgrade OS X to get 7.3

the update page in app store says support 10.11 el capitan, I am downloading that hope it will work. (and it will take more than 1 hour to download 6.2G of that), but I think this will fix the issue.

EL Capitan is requirement for Xcode 7.3

I was having the same spinning error, so i downloaded the dmg. After I installed it that wasy and went to run it, it said that this version was not supported on Yosemite…..? I must have missed that or they forgot to type in their description Can Apple Confirm?

The download only 10 min

it was only 10 min to download and install the application, after it was done installing Xcode opened immediately and I had no problems, also no issues with connecting my Iphone/Ipad with the latest OS update.

cannot install this version, because

"Xcode can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because OS X version 10.11 or later is required.” enuf said. stupid.

** Possible Solution to Updating**

For those who are having trouble updating the application, try to download it from the “Purchased” page on the App Store, rather than the “Updates” page. I dont exactly know the reasoning behind it, seems to be some glitch, but it worked when I tried to install from Purchased page. try it!

Download doesnt work - no explanation.

After visiting the manual download page, it seems this app only works with 10.11. Im in the middle of a complex project on Yosemite and dont really have time to upgrade my OS, fix the inevitable apache breakage, reinstall all the brew packages, etc...just because my iPhone bricked and I was forced to update to 9.3 on restore. This is a flagrant disregard for the realities of computer professionals that work, not just on iOS, but also do server infrastructure for the cloud. Incredibly unprofessional to drop support for Yosemite as part of a minor iOS upgrade. So now Im going to blow two days watching software installers run while my clients sit on their thumbs wondering why I cant keep my delivery dates. Not cool.

updating problem

it shows 2.22 gb when I start to updating. then after a while it shows 4.6 gb and again start from the beginning.bt when i pause it and after a while i return and resume ,again it starts from the beginning. tried several times but facing the same problem. mine one is macbook pro 2015 version.

Mac App Store is the problem

There are a lot of negative reviews here due to problems with downloading Xcode, but it seems to me that the Xcode review should start after it has been installed. I have also had a poor experience every time I download/update Xcode, but that’s an issue with the Mac App Store and Apple’s servers, not Xcode. As for Xcode, it’s been getting a lot better over the last couple of versions. I particularly appreciate the fuzzy code completion and Swift switch statement template. And thanks for fixing that issue with storyboards where the rows at the bottom of a long static tableview wouldn’t draw after scrolling them into view (in the Storyboard). 5 stars for Xcode, 2 stars for the Mac App Store.

Need install to work

This is junk. Tried “Update” from 6.4 lots of times. Rebooting. Etc. Even tried upgrading OX to El Capitan. Apple can’t figure out how to make its install work! This really makes one wonder.

Code complete broken

Warning: Do not install this update if you value code-complete at all. They tried to make it better by sensing all characters within words, but actually broke it completely. Prepare to manually type everything and lose minutes, hours, and eventually days of coding time. This applies to Objective-C. Not sure if they broke it for Swift or not. This is in addition to all the installation issues that others are experiencing. Also took me several tries, updating entire Mac OS, several restarts, etc. - the usual. Also prepare for this lovely error when you try to distribute your app that you had previously been distributing without issue - “An App ID with identifier com.company.yourapp is not available. Please enter a different string."

Fails To Download

No matter what I do the application will not update from 7.2 to 7.3. It looks like this issue has existed for weeks now and apple has not resolved it. Disappointing for sure.
