New version to disappoint me
Everyday when I go to work I wonder if XCode will treat me gently or not. Sadly, it almost never does.
Just today I tried to refactor a class and was met with disappointment. Refactoring still doesn’t show a preview after how many versions? No worries, I thought, surely other features would be fixed! I tried to install an app directly to a phone and use the XCode feature to automatically add a UUID to the profile. Surely this should work, right? Nope! It gives an error. It will register the UUID automatically but fail to pull down the latest provisioning profiles. Except the error it gives says that the app bundle identifier is invalid. Great error code XCode!
Surely today can’t get worse right? I then got an error building with exit code 255 - “The tool may have crashed. Please file a bug report at …”. 200 billion in offshore banks and you can’t even give us a good IDE to develop apps in? Seriously? I never thought I would say that I miss Eclipse.
Even more disappointing is this feedback form. I’m on a mac and I seriously can’t press the left/right arrow keys to move the position of my cursor. Bravo.
